Frocktober Sewing Competition

SEWING COMPETITION FOR OVARIAN CANCER RESEARCH

Sewcial Sewing is delighted to announce Fantastical Frocktales on the 25th of October, an event dedicated to raising funds and awareness for Ovarian Cancer Research. Thanks to the generous support from MaaiDesign, Pattern Scissors Frock, and The Fabric Store, we are also thrilled to host an exciting sewing competition in conjunction with the event.

This sewing competition aims to inspire our local community to sew a Frockstravagent outfit for Frocktober. By participating, entrants will have the chance to win fabric vouchers valued at $500.

Our sewing competition is linked to Frocktober, Australia's most fashionable month-long fundraiser dedicated to increasing awareness and funding for vital ovarian cancer research through the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), including clinical trials at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre.

Entry Criteria:

  • One Entry Per Person: Each participant is allowed to submit one entry.

  • Outfit Creation: The outfit must be personally sewn by the entrant. There are no restrictions on when the outfit was made; it can be a pre-existing creation that fits the competition's requirements.

  • Occasion Wear: The outfit should be suitable for special occasion events, such as races, weddings, or Fantastical Frocktales. It doesn't have to be a dress; it can be a jumpsuit, skirt and top, or pants, as long as it's Frockstravagant!

  • Photo Submission: Entrants must provide a photo of themselves wearing the outfit as if they were going out. This photo should be emailed to info@sewcialsewing.com.au or posted on Instagram, tagging @sewcial_sewing and using the hashtag #frocktobersewingcompetition2023. For those without a public Instagram account, please ensure that we have an alternative means of contacting you. It is advisable to also email us to ensure that we can reach you without any potential communication issues.

  • Photo Sharing: Participants must be willing to allow us to share their photos on Sewcial Sewing's Facebook page and Instagram page, using the above-mentioned hashtag.

  • Information Sharing: Entrants should be prepared to share details about their creation, including the pattern used, fabric source, size made, and any alterations. Basically, as much information as you feel comfortable giving. We are big advocates for sharing our sewing knowledge and love to see others doing the same.

  • Location Requirement: Entrants must be located within the Albury Wodonga region, extending to areas like Wangaratta, Wagga Wagga, Rutherglen, Bright, etc. In addition to winning vouchers, the winner will receive 2 free event tickets, so proximity to the event venue is ideal. Therefore, this competition is open to local and surrounding areas only.

  • Donation to Frocktober: Participants are encouraged to donate to Frocktober using our provided link. The donation amount is flexible and entirely at the entrant's discretion. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. There is no judgment, and every contribution counts towards a great cause.

Entry submissions for the competition will be available from midnight on September the 15th, 2023, until midnight on October the 18th, 2023. We will proudly announce the winner on October 21st, 2023 and vouchers will be given to the entrant on the night of the event.

We're excited to invite all our talented entrants to join us for the event as well by purchasing a ticket for Fantastical Frocktales! We would love to see your creations in person and give you the opportunity to walk the catwalk during our fashion show. It's a fantastic chance to showcase your work and connect with fellow participants and sewing enthusiasts. If walking in the fashion show is something you would consider then please reach out.

As an added bonus, if you're the lucky winner and have purchased tickets for the event in advance, we'll gladly reimburse up to two tickets. We believe that celebrating your success together with our community is the best way to make this event unforgettable.

We look forward to your participation in the Frocktober Sewing Competition 2023 and hope to raise much-needed funds for Ovarian Cancer Research!

If anyone has any questions please reach out to info@sewcialsewing.com.au and we will be happy to get back to you.

Happy Sewing!
